what the style is:

Penny Loafer

Penny loafers are classic American styling, identified by their "penny" strap that lays across the tongue. This is a "half strap" style, where the strap reaches the moccasin-style apron stitching, but dues not extend any further.

what it's lasted on:

Saint Helens Last

The Saint Helens last is the chisel last of our JF line. It is slightly elongated, but less so than our J. FitzPatrick line chisel lasts; it ultimately fits very true to size with a medium instep and a cut that closely follows the contours of the foot.  We recommend keeping your standard size with the Saint Helens last.

The Saint Helens is a classic medium-fitting last:
-Medium forefoot (neither too wide nor too narrow)
-Medium instep, not as generous as our J.FitzPatrick Line lasts
-Good for medium width feet
-Slightly elongated last, yet very shaped to foot length/profile

what you'll be standing on:

Street Walker Sole

The "Street Walker" sole is an open-channel, combination leather and rubber design. Leather heel stacks and mid soles are topped with rubber to create an all-weather capable finish.

size guidance

As a standard rule for our loafers, we cut them more snugly compared to our laced shoes in the same size.

The Washington loafer is as close a fit to an unlined loafer that we have, due to its lowcut pattern and deconstructed side panels. We recommend you stick to your regular oxford size for a standard width fit. If you are narrow, you will need to size down at best. Potentially it might not work at all if you are a true narrow. A true wide foot will have a difficult time fitting this loafer.

Similar in sizing to the Carmina Uetam loafer and Crockett & Jones Cavendish with a bit more play in the heel.

Length: Elongated (circa 1 inch of space at toe)
Width: Standard
Instep: Low Cut (generous)
Toe Box: Standard

Classy

I ordered the Washington penny loafers in Sangria Calf. They are stunning and eloquent. The shoe fits well and Justin (The Shoe Snob) worked directly with me to find the best shoe and shoe size. These shoes are of high quality, look great, and are extremely comfortable. I highly recommend these compared to other brands out there, especially at this price/quality value.

I like the quality of the shoe. Thank you. However, I feel that the last is a bit narrow for a medium sole. Also, the US 9.5 seems to be a bit small when compared to my other shoe brands such as Carmina. I am not considering the Wenatchee - Mocha Suede. Does this last fit the same as the Washington? Should I consider half size larger than US 9.5? Appreciate your response.

Hello AC, all of our loafers are cut smaller compared to the rest of the models. We believe a loafer should start snug so that once it breaks in, it then fits perfectly. They should fit similar to Carmina's Uetam loafer, but maybe not their other lasts. The Wenatchee in the same size will not fit as tight. I would stick with the same size. I hope that this helps. Thank you for the kind review
