what the style is:

Double Monkstrap

Monkstraps are identified by their strap buckle closures, usually made up of one or two -- but possibly more -- straps that keep each shoe secure. Double monkstraps are among the more modern variants of this style, balancing nicely against the classic black colorway seen here.

what it's lasted on:

Saint Helens Last

The Saint Helens last is the chisel last of our JF line. It is slightly elongated, but less so than our J. FitzPatrick line chisel lasts; it ultimately fits very true to size with a medium instep and a cut that closely follows the contours of the foot.  We recommend keeping your standard size with the Saint Helens last.

The Saint Helens is a classic medium-fitting last:
-Medium forefoot (neither too wide nor too narrow)
-Medium instep, not as generous as our J.FitzPatrick Line lasts
-Good for medium width feet
-Slightly elongated last, yet very shaped to foot length/profile

what you'll be standing on:

Street Walker Sole

The "Street Walker" sole is an open-channel, combination leather and rubber design. Leather heel stacks and mid soles are topped with rubber to create an all-weather capable finish.

size guidance

The Sammamish in the Saint Helens last offers a standard fit. We recommend sticking to your regular size. The double monkstrap can offer a generous like feeling due to the nature of the pattern so if you are a true narrow, we suggest sizing down. A broader foot can work in their standard fit. A true wide will need to size up.

Length: Elongated (1-1/2 inches of space at toe)
Width: Standard
Instep: Standard
Toe Box: Standard
Last Shape: Hard Chisel

incredible

They felt like a dream right out of the box, they look sharp, and while I'm not exactly a good-year welt aficionado, the style and craftsmanship here stands out to me. Relative to other options I've seen at this price point, I doubt you're going to be able to find a better value for the quality. After receiving my black shoes, I'm strongly considering buying in a brown as well.

Beautiful Craftsmanship and Design

These are truly beautiful shoes. They are well-crafted and you can sense the care that went into the design, building, and presentation of the shoe. The shoes are comfortable right out of the box and there is virtually no need to break them in. Most would have no idea that this is in the “entry level” shoe line. There seems to be much discussion of men’s dress shoes at the $200-$400 price point. J. FitzPatrick needs to be at the top of the list of any of those discussions. The combination of craftsmanship, value, and design are pretty much unparalleled at this price. I highly recommend these shoes and will be buying more.
