Double Monkstrap

Monkstraps are identified by their strap buckle closures, usually made up of one or two -- but possibly more -- straps that keep each shoe secure. Double monkstraps are among the more modern variants of this style, but this "Montlake" is kept looking classic with the help of its hand-stitched apron detailing.

The LPB is our soft chisel last. It is a softened variant of the classic MGF chisel last, with the smoother lines of LPB offering a more conservative and versatile profile.
The LPB is a generous fitting last, making it a good choice for those with broad feet.

-Labeled as UK 'E' width (US 'D' equivalent). However, being generous it is closer to a US D/E fit, falling between the two.

Leather Sole (Closed Channel)

Single leather soles are our most handsome sole option. A subtle profile combines with tastefully pitched heels, beveled waists, and closed-channel stitching to ensure an elegant look, while seven brass nails in the toe improve longevity.

size guidance

The Montlake, on the LPB Last, is a generous and elongated fitting double monk. It is similar to a generous derby style. The double monkstrap pattern, coupled with the chisel last, results in a generous instep and elongated toe box. If you wear slender lasts, you will wish to size down.

If you wear more generous fitting lasts, often found by Italian brands or on other chisel lasts, stick with your typical size. If you are a standard fit, it will be up to you to decide if you prefer a little more room or a snugger fit. If more room, stick to the same size, if more snug, size down.

Extraordinary and elegant

Comfortable with a generous in step. Very elegant shape. I don’t think pictures do justice to the marble patina. With a mirror shine, the patina takes on a depth like lacquered wood. Just beautiful. This is my third pair of JFitzpatrick and it won’t be my last.

Also, the proactive customer service was beyond anything I’ve experienced.

Most comfortable and stylish dress shoes I have ever worn. I do think J. Fitzpatrick for me fits 1/2 size small than other companies, but was worth the wait. Will only buy dress shoes from here now. Great company, great quality, comfort, style and customer support

Beautiful Monkstrap

First pair of shoes from J Fitzpatrick, but certainly won't be my last. Great monkstrap with unique styling and attention to detail. The leather is beautiful (well represented in the pictures) and makes for a very versatile shoe with a wide range of colours and styles. Very comfortable upon first wear, no break-in period needed.
