Joining our lineup is the new "Monroe" oxford in a rich walnut museum calfskin. The Monroe is a wholecut which tends towards simplicity. Its detailing is limited to a fleur-de-lys medallion and a pseudo-adelaide piece: Note that the adelaide piece, framing the laces, is not a separate piece of leather, and is only made to appear so by stitching.

This handsome and tidy oxford sits on our pointed symmetrical SEA last for a dressy effect; while it can be worn with denim, the Monroe will be at its best when paired with fine tailoring.

Wholecut Oxford

Wholecut oxfords are identified by their construction from a single piece of leather, and their closed-lace pattern. These two features work together to create an oxford that is both sleek and comfortable, with the wholecut pattern ensuring that each shoe easily "molds" to your foot as you wear it. The Monroe is a pseudo-adelaide: Note that the adelaide piece which framing the laces is not a separate piece of leather, and is only made to appear so by stitching, but without compromising the underlying wholecut pattern.

SEA Last

The SEA last is our pointed symmetrical last, very reminiscent of a many French and Italian style lasts of similar symmetrical cuts.

The pointed nose of the SEA last makes a very serious shape for wearing with your more business-like attire. While not impossible to wear with jeans, we see it more as a dress shoe last. Being another one of our more refined lasts in terms of it, the SEA is certainly more suited for a narrow to medium-width foot.

Leather Sole (Closed Channel)

Single leather soles are our most handsome sole option. A subtle profile combines with tastefully pitched heels, beveled waists, and closed-channel stitching to ensure an elegant look, while seven brass nails in the toe improve longevity.

size guidance

The Monroe, on the SEA Last, is a very snug, form-fitting oxford. It is quite hugging in the forefoot/toebox and has a lower instep than our other J.FitzPatrick line models. If you have slender feet, stick to your typical size. If you have broader feet, you will either need to size up or this last might not accommodate your feet. If you have a standard fit, but enjoy a snug feel, stick to your standard size.
Expect a hugging feeling in your forefoot.
