Nobody can deny that derbies form a crucial part of our wardrobes. The Cle Elum derby continues the J. FitzPatrick tradition of classic shoes with subtle modern detailing: the apron stitch toebox is something you'll almost never see outside of a loafer or a split-toe boot.

Our Cle Elum in Mocha Suede is your no-nonsense tough shoe. With suede that can take a beating and our rubber Street Walker sole, this style is going to be your best friend--holding up in the rain and still having great texture on those sunny days.

    what the style is:

    Classic Derby

    A casual alternative to oxfords, derbies are identified by their "open" lacing structure. This four-eyelet derby is a classic American style, with a "moccasin" stitched apron and a round toebox.

    what it's lasted on:

    Rainier Last

    The Rainier last is the smart round last of our JF Line. It is slightly elongated, but fits true to size with a medium instep. Its fit is between our J. FitzPatrick TMG and NGT lasts in terms of length and width, but with a lower (more standard) instep. We recommend keeping your standard size with the Rainier last.

    The Rainier is a classic medium-fitting last:
    -Medium forefoot (neither too wide nor too narrow)
    -Medium instep, not as generous as our J.FitzPatrick Line lasts
    -Good for medium width feet
    -Slightly elongated last, yet very shaped to foot length/profile

    what you'll be standing on:

    Street Walker Sole

    The "Street Walker" sole is an open-channel, combination leather and rubber design. Leather heel stacks and mid soles are topped with rubber to create an all-weather capable finish.

    size guidance

    The Cle Elum offers a snug and elongated fit. It is quite hugging in the midfoot, with a semi-generous toe-box and a standard instep. If you have slender to standard-width feet, stick to your usual size. If you have wider feet, you will want to take a half size up to accommodate for width. If you have a standard fit, but enjoy a snug feel, stick to your usual size.

    Love the last shape and the suede is high quality and beautiful. I found the heel to be a bit wider than other models in the same. You may want to reach out to Justin on sizing before you order.

    Comfortable and stylish shoes

    I love my Cle Elum shoes in kale, and I love the mocha suede just as much. The mocha is perhaps more versatile than the kale, but I love both pairs of shoes. They are very comfortable and easy to wear for long periods right out of the box. Highly recommended!

    Nice but tough

    Wonderful shoes, wonder like comfort around heel and little narrow around toes.
    They look great, feel great when standing but when walking they are a bit strange.
    The bad thing about these shoes is their sole, it is very rigid and very thick.
    I bought these for summertime, but honestly my winter boots have more flexible sole.
